Short before midnight I was sitting in the saloon (I was inside the harbor at Port Louis, Mauritius), when all of a sudden, I felt a bump against the boat. I jumped outside and saw a boat right next to me on port, that hit me. It was unmanned. There were three cops on bord, trying to push the boat away from mine. It was a motorboat tied at the dock like Faule Haut, just a few meters behind me.
It’s docking lines were torn, both, astern and at the bow. So it came loose and the wind pushed it against Faule Haut. Luckily she suffered only a few scratches, nothing seriously. I checked the broken docking lines and saw that they were way too thin and also rotten. The cops must have seen that it was drifting free, and prevented it from causing more damage. I lent them some docking lines and we attached the boat safely. Next morning some guys came with new docking lines and tied the boat up anew.
