Encounter with a Maniac

Faule Haut had an encounter with a maniac on the 22nd of Nov. 2021 in position:

012°01.847’W
About 190 nm north-northeast of Lanzarote, crew Thibaut spotted something at a distance, got the binoculars out and looked for it. From far away it locked kinda funny, like a car in the water. We thought that someone could be in distress so we took our sails down and motored over to check it out. When we got closer we saw a man looking out of his pedal boat. It’s Didier Bovard, a French adventurer. He told us that he is on his way to Tenerife and later also wants to cross the Atlantic. He said, that he had crossed the Atlantic before 25 years ago in the same manner.
He’s got neither sails nor motor on his boat. He is just moving it forward by pedaling with his feet and legs. He has started his trip at the coast of Portugal on the 5th of November. Chapeau – Chapeau.!
He asked us if we could take over two of his trash bags, what we, of course, did. Faule Haut loves maniacs and courages people like this and supports them. ;-))
